class descriptions
Vinyasa (Flow)
Vinyasa is a fluid and dynamic Yoga class integrating and synchronizing breath with movement. Students ride the breath from one posture to the next creating a continuous and flowing experience. Vinyasa’s strength is in its diversity. There is no single philosophy, rulebook, or sequence that teachers must follow, allowing for a fun, challenging and sometimes unpredictable practice. This class celebrates movement and music plays a big part.

Anusara
Anusara® Yoga means stepping into the currents of grace, flowing with grace or following you heart. It is a playful practice exploring what is possible in each individuals body, mind and heart. Each class has a heart-oriented theme, which centers on cultivating a virtue-a quality of mind or heart, which is a microcosmic reflection of our Divine nature. It is an elegant system of yoga that unifies healthy biomechanical alignment principles called the Universal Principles of Alignment™ with a philosophy of intrinsic goodness and a strong focus of living your yoga on an off the mat in ways that create harmony.

Deep Slow Flow
In this class we fully embody each movement for a deep, rich, explorative practice. The music is slow and melodic creating a trance type state that allows a deeper awakening as we dive down past the layers of our physical, energetic, emotional, and wisdom body into bliss.

Ecstatic Flow
This class is geared toward the more experienced vinyasa student & seeker. This class is for those students who have experienced the magic of the Divine through the works of Rumi, Hafiz & other mystics and seek to be inspired themselves. You will be encouraged to break old habits, explore intuitively your unique creative expression and delve more deeply into your own practice.

Lunch Hour Flow
This Power Yoga style class is energetic, dynamic and quick to accommodate the lunch hour.

Restorative Yoga
This class is a necessity for busy, stressed, active people who need to take it easy. This class uses props to help you relax more fully into a series of asana specifically designed to allow stress from busy lives or injury to be released from the body.

Sivananda
This gentle and very traditional practice both begins and ends in Savasana. Inspired by the teachings of Sri Swami Vishnudevananda and his teacher, Satguru Swami Sivananda, the practice includes breathing exercises, devotional chants, and gentle meditation in addition to physical postures. Students interested in a classical yoga practice will explore the concept of peace through sun salutations, inversions, and deep relaxation. Through following the breath on the mat, we can learn to adapt, adjust, and accommodate to the world we live in off the mat. This open-hearted offering incorporates opportunities for students of all levels.

Yoga for Everybody
You can do yoga!
Yoga for Everybody is an all levels vinyasa (flowing) style class that connects breath with movement. In this class before we get into our practice, we take a moment to check in and share what we are bringing with us – which fosters a deeper sense of community, we then go through a well-rounded, themed class based on the yogic chakra system (energetic centers within the body), this provides an excellent foundation and structure for our class. Each week, we focus on a different chakra (there are 7) so committing to 7 weeks will provide you with a strong foundation for any style of yoga.
7 class series $50 (applicable to Y4E Monday 6:30pm and Y4E Thursday 4:15pm). You do not need to commit to 7 weeks. Classes do not need to used consecutively. You are welcome to just drop-in. This is an illuminating experience for both beginners & seasoned yogis, and is suitable for … everybody! – no experience is necessary.

Yin
Yin Yoga is a passive form of yoga in which the poses are held for longer periods of time in order to focus on the connective tissues of the body, creating greater flexibility in the spine, hips and legs. This practice is perfect for anyone who wants an increase in flexibility to the low back, pelvis, hips or hamstrings, while learning to release tension in the mind and still the thoughts.

VasuDeva Yoga Experience
This dynamic and creative Vinyasa Flow class is set to live drumming and music. We (teacher, student, drummer) move together through guided asanas, gradually increasing the level of energy leading up to the final portion of the practice that allows us to move into our own free form personal sadhana.
“As the practice and rhythms build, the action of movement and sound create the power to transform; revealing power, presence and passion in the practice. If feeling stagnant in your yoga practice, this is an opportunity to break through the mold of old habitual patterns, and enjoy the evolution of your body through rhythm.”- Kristin Cooper-Gulak, Creator Rhythmic Flow Yoga.

Community Kirtan
The Philosophy of Kirtan | What is kirtan?
“Mantras quiet the mind, and music frees the heart. The intention of kirtan is consciousness-transformative, directing the singers to vanish into the song as drops merge into the ocean. The musicians and the crowd coalesce in a cloud of intelligence, turning together like a flock of birds, until the song itself vanishes into the skies of silence.
Kirtan (from the Sanskrit word for singing) is easily learned and instantly memorable. The form is simple: a lead group calls out the melodies and the crowd responds. Sanskrit is the mother tongue of many modern languages, and a kind of periodic table of elemental sound-meaning. The mantras are primarily recitations of names given to the divine. But perhaps the true understanding of the mantras can be found in the sense of unity, well-being and timelessness that they elicit. Ecstasy is both the process and the product.” -Dave Stringer
“Listen friend, this body is his instrument. He draws the strings tight, and out of it comes the music of the universe.”- Kabir

MYC Women’s Circle
This is a circle dedicated to holding a safe place for women to explore themselves, to come into communion with the internal, personal, through being witnessed and held by the women in our community. Through doing the work together, we can then step into our community and families in fuller, healthier, more capable ways. Embodying our truths, with confidence, and knowing we have a place to explore what these truths are. We will each week, continue to hold one another and ourselves in compassionate, open, non-judgmental, dialogue, discussing what it means to be a woman at this time in history, our day, and our families. Join us as we deeply explore the Divine Feminine with in ourselves and give and receive support on our path of discovery.

MYC Men’s Circle
The MYC Men’s Circle is a place to gather together with fellow men to explore all aspects of being a man in today’s world. Together we will explore our questions, challenges, and experiences. We will learn to show up fully with presence and love; we will uncover and honor our gifts; we will compassionately hold ourselves and each other accountable to living our fullest, biggest, and brightest life. Each evening will be a blend of sharing, discussion, and practices which will wake us up and challenge us to
live the truth of who we are.
